The war across former-Stredisveria tore lives apart. The only real choice left for anyone is to pick up those pieces. A grizzled veteran adopts a mysterious war orphan. The two frightened animals have no choice but to figure out what life looks like in this world. What kind of life can the teeth and claws of a killer build for itself? What can an animal ground into nothing possibly hope to make sense of in this world? What hope do either of them have of interfacing with each other or anyone or themselves? Nothing's ever as simple as it seems. There's a surface beneath a surface beneath a surface to everyone and everything. Exhausting. Exhausted. And yet, they persist. They have no choice.
